The Challenge:

HR platforms are notoriously data-heavy and prone to manual error. The objective was to modernize the legacy modules and build a unified ecosystem where data flows seamlessly from a biometric clock-in to the final payroll slip.

Strategic priorities included:

Regional Compliance: Automating statutory contributions (e.g., CPF, EPF, Tax) for multiple Southeast Asian markets.
Legacy Modernization: Transitioning older modules into a high-performance, responsive web and mobile architecture.
Security & Privacy: Maintaining strict data sovereignty and encryption standards for sensitive PII (Personally Identifiable Information).

 

My Role & Execution:

As a Senior Product Developer, I was responsible for the end-to-end delivery of [specific modules, e.g., the Payroll and Attendance engines].
Logic-Driven Payroll Engine: I developed the core calculation logic that handles complex overtime formulas, variable bonuses, and automated tax filings. This reduced manual payroll processing time for clients by over 70%.
Mobile-First Attendance: I worked on the Geofencing and Facial Recognition features for the mobile app, allowing remote workforces to clock in securely without physical hardware.
API Ecosystem: I built and optimized integrations with accounting software like Xero and QuickBooks, ensuring that HR data synced perfectly with finance departments.

 

User-Centric Design:

Focused on reducing “click-fatigue” by redesigning the employee self-service portal, making common tasks like applying for leave or viewing payslips possible in under three clicks.

 

Results & Impact:

Scalability: Successfully supported the platform’s growth to over 2,500+ companies.
Accuracy: Achieved a near-zero error rate in statutory calculations through rigorous automated unit testing.
User Retention: Contributed to a significant increase in daily active users (DAU) on the mobile app through improved UX and push-notification workflows.
